MOXI Laser
Revitalise and refresh your skin’s appearance with MOXI
MOXI™ by Sciton is a non-ablative, fractionated laser. It creates tiny, controlled thermal injuries, or “micro-coagulation zones,” below the surface of the skin. This process stimulates a healing response where older cells are replaced with fresh, healthy ones. This renewal process causes improvements to skin’s texture and overall tone boosting collagen production and revitalising the skin.
Is this for you?
MOXI™ offers a wide range of benefits. It can correct the initial signs of sun damage and ageing, regardless of the season or your skin type. It is great for anyone interested in laser treatments, who wants to try the most non-invasive option that will still give great results.
It is also a great “prejuvenation” option. A preventative treatment that encourages clients to maintain their skin BEFORE the visible signs of ageing set in.
MOXI is a very quick, easy and spicy treatment. The more of those little fractionated columns that get delivered into your skin, the hotter it is. However it is comfortably tolerated by most people with numbing cream.
The technology provides different options and levels, we can find the setting that best suits you and your comfort level!

What to Expect
Your skin will be cleansed and prepped, and protective goggles provided. The MOXI handpiece then glides lightly over the treatment area. Sessions are quick and comfortable, typically 15–30 minutes depending on the area treated.
After treatment, your skin may feel warm and slightly sunburned for an hour or two, which is normal. Cooling with cold packs, fans, or a water mist helps restore comfort.
Microscopic epidermal necrotic debris (MENDS) appear around day 2–3 as tiny dots, giving the skin a bronzed appearance. This is a natural part of the process and a sign your skin is regenerating. MENDS typically last about a week, after which fresh, revitalised skin is revealed.
Recommended Sessions
We will create a personalised plan just for you, so you’ll know exactly how many sessions are needed to achieve your goals.
Many clients see an amazing result in just one treatment, others find the best results with a series of MOXI Laser treatments or when they combine MOXI with BBL treatments.
After your initial series, an annual treatment is recommended to maintain results and keep your skin looking its healthiest.

For those who like the details:
-
MOXI feels ‘prickly’ and has been described like a tiny derma roller or a matchbox car toy being rolled lightly over your face! It has a ‘sizzle’ sound and it starts off feeling warm and then feels hot towards the end of the treatment.
MOXI is a quick but spicy treatment. It depends how many tiny fractionated zones are delivered into the skin, the more zones - the hotter it is.
The machine provides different settings and levels, so we can find the setting that best suits your skin and your comfort levels. Many people find even the highest settings tolerable.
The real heat of the MOXI comes after the treatment. The heat feels like a pretty hefty sunburn. If you have had a sunburn you will know it is a fiery feeling! Your skin will feel hot for approximately 2-3 hours afterwards.
Most people find MOXI tolerable, especially when topical numbing is applied before the treatment.

Everyone is different.
MOXI is a fractionated laser meaning only a percentage of the skin is targeted and the untouched skin actually helps with the quick healing of the targeted skin.
You might look flushed or red (the ‘ski field sunburn look’ springs to mind). You may also be a bit puffy or swollen particularly under the eyes.
It depends on your skin and how you handle heat. If you are someone who turns red easily, you will likely be more red than someone who loves the heat and is not as sensitive.
You can apply makeup the next day when the heat is gone.
2-3 hours of feeling hot, 2-3 days of looking red, 7-10 days of having sandpaper feeling/looking skin. Then say hello to your beautiful new skin!
-
You will see improvement in just one treatment. This is what makes MOXI so popular.
The recommended number of treatments for a maximum result is 3-4 treatments with 1 or 2 annual maintenance treatments from there on.
If you are younger or you already have skin that is in great condition, you might do one or two per year to keep it that way!
-
In 10 days to 2 weeks you will have beautiful new skin, however the rejuvenation keeps coming and many people comment that they notice their skin is still improving 1-3 months on!

The MOXI treatment sparks a healing response from the body. A pregnant woman’s body is already doing a big job creating a baby and living a busy mother’s life! We don’t want to distract the mother’s immune system from doing its most important job, therefore we err on the side of caution and do not treat pregnant women with lasers.
-
It is safe to have a MOXI treatment after having botox if you wait a certain amount of time.
At Lucere we err on the side of caution and prefer you have waited one month post botox before you have a MOXI treatment. It is also a good idea to wait some time after a MOXI to allow your skin to heal before having any further injectables. Please inform your injector.
-
It depends what medications you are taking. We discuss this in detail at your consultation.
Medications for an autoimmune condition would indicate your body, immune and wound healing systems are already busy working hard and a treatment could spread your immune system too thin. If you are on blood thinners, or if you are prone to keloid scarring, this may make the treatment unsuitable. We can discuss this in more detail at the consultation.
As our treatments trigger a healing response from the body, you should be feeling healthy prior to your treatment so your skin will heal and rejuvenate quickly!
-
Please stop using your Retinoids/Vitamin A. Please don’t use exfoliants or other products with active ingredients at least one week before and after your treatment.
Once your skin has settled down and is healing well you can go back to your usual routine or let us introduce you to some new products if you are wanting a change. Sunscreen is going to be at the top of your list as you will be more sensitive to light after your treatment.

Post MOXI guidelines
The better you are with your after care, the faster you will see results. Plus, you will likely amplify the results, giving yourself the best possible skin.
Immediately after treatment you might want cooling. A spritz of water, a fan, air con in the car, or a cold compress are all good options. We will provide you with some initial cooling and you are welcome to sit for a while as you cool down.
Avoid direct sun exposure, wear sunscreen and protective clothing in the sun. This very important!
Relieve any swelling or redness by applying a cool compress.
Do not rub, scratch or pick treated areas.
Keep away from the heat or anything that makes you sweat for 1-2 days eg excessive exercise, sauna, very hot showers etc.
Keep your skincare simple. Do not use skincare with active or irritating ingredients for at least one week after treatment. We have recommended products available to purchase.
* You will be given comprehensive post care instructions to take home after your treatment.
